29 Jun Museum of London join The Goodwill Partnership
The Museum of London, an award-winning charitable institution, tells the ever-changing story of this great world city and its people, from 450,000 BC to the present day. This is the most exciting time in the museum’s history as it embarks on one of the biggest cultural projects in Europe – creating a New Museum for London in West Smithfield.
By moving into a stunning array of Victorian and 20th century market buildings, the New Museum will transform what a museum could and should be for London. By opening up more of its world-class collections and through engaging with even more children and young people, the museum will be at the heart of London’s future, an essential part of Culture Mile, and rooted in the city’s wider educational, cultural, social and economic landscape.
In the first year in their new home they hope to welcome over 2 million visitors from across the UK and around the world, recasting its place in the imagination of the millions of people who live, work and explore London every day.
By joining The Goodwill Partnership, the Museum of London can offer its supporters and volunteers a best-practice, home-visit, Will-writing service, which allows people to leave a gift to the museum if they wish.
Antony Berry, Head of Philanthropy at the Museum of London, says: “We are about to embark on one of the largest cultural projects in Europe, building a museum that London deserves in the historic and geographic heart of London. We wouldn’t be able to do this alone and partnering with The Goodwill Partnership will enable us to move one step closer to fulfilling our bold ambitions. We hope that through The Goodwill Partnership and the incredible generosity of those leaving gifts in their wills to the Museum of London, we will be able to create a lasting legacy for many generations to come.”
Mark Jackson, Co-Founder of The Goodwill Partnership, says: “The Museum of London is such an inspiring place and a vital part of our history. We are delighted to be partnering with the museum and hope that through our service we can help raise much needed additional funds”.
