A warm welcome to our latest charity partner

We’d like to extend a warm welcome to our latest charity partner, St Joseph’s Hospice located in Hackney, London E8. We will be offering our Will-writing services to STJH’s volunteers and supporters with immediate effect.

Just like a number of our other charity partners, STJH goes back a very long way, well over 100 years. In fact the hospice first opened in 1905 and has been caring for and supporting people affected by serious illness ever since. Indeed, the organisation offers only ‘the very highest quality palliative care’ and last year alone helped 1,700 individuals.

The charity offers in-patient, day hospice, community-based and out-patient services to people living in the City of London and the boroughs of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham. People living in the surrounding boroughs can also access in-patient services. The charity’s support for families and carers is also an important aspect of its outreach.

In common with so many of our charity partners in the medical and care field, STJH is dependent upon the generosity and goodwill of its local community. Although it is part-funded by the Government (50%), STJH still needs to raise an additional £19,000 each day in order to provide its services.

Gifts in legacies and bequests are therefore very important to the charity and we are delighted to partner with them to provide Will-writing services to their volunteers and supporters. There will be no obligation on the part of supporters to leave a legacy gift, although it is hoped that the initiative will generate additional legacy funds over time.

As The Goodwill Partnership’s Co-Founder, Mark Jackson, says: “St Joseph’s Hospice plays an important role for many East Londoners with life-limiting and terminal illness. It provides exceptional nursing, clinical and supportive care as well as a safe and comfortable environment for people who are nearing the end of life.”

We are delighted to partner with such an outstanding institution.
