INDEPENDENT AGE. Working to make old age better.

Whatever happens as we get older, we all want to remain independent and live life on our own terms.
However, nearly two million older people live below the poverty line, and many more are living with precarious finances, worried about the cost of living, their levels of income, growing isolation and the quality of their home life.
At Independent Age, our mission is to end the fear and escalation that affects far too many people in older age, and to help as many people as possible to live independently on their own terms.
Independent Age is the national charity focused on improving the lives of people facing financial hardship in later life.
Our helpline and expert advisers offer free, practical support to older people without enough money to live on. Through our grants programme, we support hundreds of local organisations working directly with older people across the UK.
We use the knowledge and insight gained from our support services and partnerships to highlight the issues experienced by older people in poverty and campaign for change.
An older person who contacted our Helpline said “I can’t believe how much Independent Age has done for me. I am over the moon with the support. The support has made the difference between me giving up on life and choosing to carry on.”
Independent Age do not receive government funding, and gifts in Wills are vital in funding our work, and the currently a third of all the support we provide for older people.
We’ve partnered with specialists, the Goodwill Partnership, to help all those interested in supporting our work to make a Will, simply and affordably and with peace and mind.
You are under no obligation to include Independent Age in your Will. However, once you have provided for those closest to you, we hope you will take the opportunity to consider helping older people in this special way, even just 1% of your estate will help bring life-changing support to future generations of older people.
Thank you
