Visual Impairment Charity

Bucks-Vision_1

supporting people with visual impairment

BucksVision is a small registered charity helping blind and partially sighted people across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes

Our aim is to make a positive difference to people’s lives by providing support, advice, social activities and the skills to enable them to reach their full potential and lead independent lives. It is important for our members to remember that they can carry on with most, if not all, aspects of their life with appropriate support and encouragement.

We want to raise standards and improve the quality of information provided to those newly diagnosed or living with sight loss.

Our essential services play an important part in the wellbeing of our members, and help prevent social isolation:

• SOCIAL CLUBS THROUGHOUT BUCKINGHAMSHIRE: providing support and activities for our members, helping prevent social isolation.

• BEFRIENDING SERVICE: reducing social isolation of our less mobile and older visually impaired service users. The service which includes general companionship, reading and shopping.

• TWO FREE EDUCATIONAL COURSES: Offered in partnership with RNIB. “Living with Sight Loss” provides essential information to those newly diagnosed with sight loss. “Online Today“ enables visually impaired people to gain initial familiarisation with using tablets and smart phones.

• EXPERIENCE DAYS: These special days are designed to alleviate social isolation. We offer experiences such as archery, climbing, pizza making, visits to the theatre for audio assisted performances with a back stage touch tour and visits to places of historical interest.

• WALKING GROUP: Offers interesting walks with sighted guides throughout the county for sight impaired members to enjoy the great outdoors and companionship.

• TANDEM GROUP: A popular sporting challenge with sighted tandem pilots who challenge our members to keep fit and active.

• EYE CLINIC LIAISON OFFICER: BucksVision funds a dedicated Eye Clinic Liaison Officer who supports eye clinic patients at Stoke Mandeville, Amersham and High Wycombe NHS Hospitals and delivers a fully integrated sight loss advisory service.

Your legacy will help us continue our important work for another 100 years. Thank you for considering leaving BucksVision a gift in your will.
