Care and Education for Destitute Children in South India

Goodwill Children’s Homes, a UK registered charity, has been supporting long-term care and education of destitute children for over 40 years. We work in partnership with Goodwill Children’s Homes Charitable Society an organisation based in Tamil Nadu, South India.

The children we work with come from very poor backgrounds and are often orphaned at a young age. Many have no one to look after them and the support provided by Goodwill allows them the opportunity for a brighter future.

In providing this care, Goodwill gives a key role to education as we believe that it is through education that the children we support will be able to earn a reliable income and in turn help support their own families and communities.

We currently fund three children’s homes and a Tribal Outreach Programme (TORP) which works with children in their own villages. Founded in 2002, Goodwill’s Tribal Outreach Project (TORP) provides support for children’s education while they stay within their own communities.

The ultimate aim is to reduce poverty by facilitating the communities to send their children, in particular girls, to school and to provide assistance to keep them in education. Further to this we aim to enable young persons to grow up in a secure environment, and on reaching an age to become independent, to be resourceful, responsible citizens within the society.

Our relationship with the Goodwill Partnership will help us to offer home-visit, solicitor-written wills to our supporters and volunteers who wish to leave us a legacy if they so desire. Leaving a lasting gift in your will, no matter how small, will make an immense difference to our work in Southern India and will enable us to accommodate more destitute children. We are hoping that that this Will-Writing Service will encourage Goodwill supporters who do not yet have a will, to obtain one in the comfort and convenience of their own homes.

Many Thanks
