The InDependent Diabetes Trust (IDDT) was established in 1994, by people living with the condition, to listen, support and respond to the needs of people in the diabetes community, not just those with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes but also their family and friends.

Whatever the cause of diabetes, it is a life changing condition that needs management on both a daily and long-term basis to avoid potentially major complications. These complications can include blindness, heart disease, kidney disease and limb amputation.

A diagnosis of diabetes is devastating for everyone – parents, children, husbands and wives. The Trust offers support and advice wherever it can, in any way it can, to everyone affected by diabetes.

IDDT provides a wide range FREE of information. We have a telephone helpline for advice and a wide range of information booklets to give practical support on the daily and long-term aspects of living with diabetes.

We are partners with international organisations that provide direct aid and support to communities worldwide where people still die because of the unavailability of the supplies they need
We fund research that is focused on improving the quality of life of everyone living with the condition, both on a daily and long-term basis.

IDDT is a charity that is free to join, and always will be. We are always very grateful for the voluntary donations we receive but we cannot survive without the generous gifts that we receive from legacies.
