When a child is diagnosed with a critical illness, the lives, and their family’s lives are turned upside down. Life can be consumed by hospital appointments, gruelling treatment and time away from friends and family – a far cry from the carefree childhood they should be enjoying.
Wishes are transformative, enabling children to “dream about the unobtainable, out of reach, and thus create an experience of achieving the impossible”; if the impossible becomes possible, children can believe in their ability to live with or overcome their illness.
When a seriously ill child turns to us, we delve into their imagination to discover their One True Wish. Wishes can range from walking with dinosaurs or being transformed into a princess for the day, to going on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday in the sun or meeting a life-long hero.
Whatever the child’s One True Wish is, we want to grant it in the most life-changing way we can.
Any gift left to Make-A-Wish UK in a Will, no matter how large or small, will help us continue to grant life-changing wishes to seriously ill children.
Thank you
