Leaving a gift to Reprieve in your will is an incredible way to support our work

Reprieve is a legal and human rights organisation working for some of the most vulnerable people in our society – those facing the death penalty and those persecuted in the name of the War on Terror.

We pursue justice for some of the most disenfranchised people in our society because we believe it is in these cases that human rights and the rule of law are cast aside, and the most integral principles in our society come under attack. Reprieve’s ethos is to protect the universality of human rights – rights for some must mean rights for all, we are all human. We protect the powerless against abuses committed by the most powerful governments. Our work is global but strategic – we take on cases and issues that others shy away from, but where we believe we can deliver change, and shape a more just world.

We are a small feisty organisation, and working with partner organisations and fellows across the world, we achieve impact far beyond our size. Reprieve:

    • – Investigates: We carry out in-depth investigations into the use of the death penalty and extreme human rights abuses;

    • – Litigates: We take on cases of strategic significance in order to seek some measure of justice for our beneficiaries and create a public record of abuses committed;

    • – Exposes: We tell the stories’ of those affected by our issues through a tailored communications programme, raising awareness and shifting the debate;

    • – Secures justice: We have secured the release of 80 men from Guantánamo Bay, supported the rehabilitation of hundreds through our innovative Life After Guantánamo project and represented over 100 victims of drone strikes, and their families;

    – Save lives: Over the past 20 years, Reprieve has directly saved the lives of well over 550 people from death rows around the world, not to mention the thousands helped through our strategic interventions limiting the application of the death penalty.

The work we do is difficult, it can take years to see results and we must remain agile as we constantly face new threats. But we are able to fight on, thanks to the community of people who support us and stand by our side. Leaving a gift to Reprieve in your will is an incredible way to support our work and to ensure we are in the best possible position to deliver justice, defend human rights and save lives now and in the years to come.
