02 May Masonic Charitable Foundation joins The Goodwill Partnership
The Goodwill Partnership, the UK’s leading Will writing service for charities, is partnering with the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) to offer best practice, home-visit, solicitor-provided Wills to their supporters and volunteers.
Funded entirely through the generosity of Freemasons and their families, the MCF is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country.
Most of the support provided by the charity takes the form of financial grants to individuals and families to assist with daily living costs. A range of health and care needs including medical and dental treatments, counselling and mobility aids or home adaptations are supported, with funding also available for respite, residential, nursing and dementia care.
The MCF awards millions of pounds each year to local and national charities that help vulnerable people, advance medical research and provide opportunities for young people.
By partnering with The Goodwill Partnership, the MCF can offer its supporters and volunteers a home-visit, best practice, solicitor-provided Will which also allows them to leave a legacy bequest if they wish although there is no obligation to do so. The Goodwill Partnership will provide the MCF with a monthly report of legacy donations made, as well as the monetary value of the donation (if permitted by the donor).
David Innes, Chief Executive of the MCF says: “The MCF is keen to encourage supporters to think seriously about the importance of making a Will so that their estate will be distributed according to their wishes.
“Through the link with The Goodwill Partnership, our supporters can now make a Will at a discount cost. Once family and friends are taken care of, we hope supporters may also consider leaving a legacy gift to the MCF. Every year we receive very generous legacy gifts from supporters who care about our causes. This in turn is just a small part of the £46 million pounds a year that Freemasonry gives to charity, all of which comes from Freemasons, their families and friends, from across England and Wales.”
Mark Jackson, Co-Founder of The Goodwill Partnership, says “Legacies are an important component of fundraising and we offer charities like the Masonic Charitable Foundation a powerful way of generating more legacies by offering our discounted Will writing service to supporters and volunteers. We are delighted to be partnering with them and hope our service proves to be a valuable source of income.”
